Q&A with our Supply Chain Management Account Manager, Darren

This week we sat down with our Account Manager, Darren, who’s been on the team since February 2021. Find out all about his role as part of our Supply Chain Management department in this blog.

What’s your background? How did you get into the industry?

‘I’ve worked in sales throughout my career! After I was made redundant I ended up in transport sales.’

What have you learnt during your time with GTS?

‘I’ve actually worked on most departments during my time at GTS UK so I’ve learnt a variety of different skills including: how to submit customs clearances both import & export. I’ve completed a Customs Declaration Training course, refreshed and gained more knowledge on driver’s hours, operating license, route planning and so much more. I’ve also gained huge knowledge of Eastern European hauliers and Italian markets.’

What are you most proud of about the service you deliver to customers?

‘The great feedback from both colleagues and customers.’

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

‘Once I arrive at work, I carry out daily checks on collections and deliveries, catch up with emails and speak with suppliers and customers. In the afternoon I repeat my daily checks, ensure all registers are kept up to date and cross check on portals.’

What do you enjoy most about working at GTS?

‘I work with a great team, everyone is ambitious and works towards the same targets. I also love the feeling of getting a deal over the line / securing a new contract!’
