GTS UK aims to shake up sustainability within the industry

Logistics accounts for 25 per cent of all global CO2 emissions. If unaddressed, this figure is projected to rise to a staggering 40 per cent by the end of the decade.

Here at GTS UK we acknowledge the gravity of the situation and know that we need to take immediate action. We are committed to providing green transport solutions which will benefit customers and the environment, and this is a pledge to secure the future for generations to come.

Tony, our MD, said: “Realistically, if logistics providers do not take this journey they will be left behind and become obsolete, and we are leading the way.

“Of course, this is important for GTS UK, but it comes from a place where we’re looking to the future; the future of our children, of our grandchildren. To not start this journey is irresponsible.”

This year we will publish our Green Roadmap which shows our commitment to sustainability and the steps we will take to make our business even more environmentally responsible and ready to face the future.

As part of the plan to lead the conversation in logistics on green issues, Tony led a session at the ICOC’s (Italian Chamber of Commerce) Green Transport Conference in November. This included premiering our ‘Passing the Parcel to a Greener Future’ film.

Speaking at the conference, Tony said: “Some companies claim sustainability is key to their strategy but, in reality, they don’t act on this on a daily basis. We see that a lot. In the end, it comes down to the transport price for them and that stops them from implementing more green methods.

“A key message for us is let’s all look in the mirror and be honest. We all like to pretend we’re green and the best – but there’s a long way to go for all of us.”

The session and film were really well received by delegates, you can see a selection of their reactions and feedback in this video.

We can’t wait to share more of our Green Roadmap plans very soon.
