Q&A with our Head of Operations, Paul

Paul is our head of all operations for Trucking, Supply Chain Management and Customs. He’s been part of our team since March 2021. In this Q&A you’ll find out all about his role:

How did you get into the industry?
‘I have been in logistics since leaving school at 16 – it’s all I know!’

What have you learnt during your time with GTS?
‘I’ve learnt a great deal about the Customs side of things, I’m new to my current role so I’m constantly learning more each day.’

What’s your progression looked like so far?
‘I came to GTS UK because it was a young progressive company. I wanted to come in to help drive that forward and grow. I have progressed within the company – starting out as Supply Chain and Customs Coordinator and moving up now to take on the role as Head of Ops.’

Why are you passionate about the industry?
‘I love working in the logistics industry, it’s fast paced and forever changing. Every day is different and brings a new challenge. I enjoy helping customers move things from A to B and seeing the end result.’

What does a typical day at work look like for you?
‘I arrive early at the office, do my every-day admin tasks and make sure nothing needs urgent attention. I then check in on our drivers to see if deliveries are on schedule. Other tasks include checking in with our SCM and Customs teams, planning deliveries, staying connected with our Italian colleagues etc. I also plan team meetings to keep on track with our service, monitor KPI targets and oversee general operations.’

What are you most looking forward to in your career?
‘Helping GTS UK become a successful and well-known company around the world, personally I would like to carry on learning and growing within the team.’
