Supply chain specialist dives into our growing team

James Bottomley, our new supply chain specialist, was a lifeguard before embarking on his career in logistics and his appointment has ensured our progress continues to go swimmingly.

James is already making waves and says our MD Tony’s watertight commitment to his team made him confident in jumping in at the deep end.

“When I first met Tony I knew instantly that I wanted to come to work here,” he said.

“Even just looking at the website, you can tell it’s a great company. I saw a video on how invested Tony is with his staff and it instantly struck me what a great role model he would be to learn from.

“He’s so positive and enthusiastic. He has an infectious enthusiasm. You can tell when people are faking it and Tony certainly isn’t. Seeing how he is has really lit a fire in my belly.”

And there’s no chance of that fire being dampened.

James’ role will see him head up the team – alongside Paul, our head of operations - managing haulage across the north of England. He is looking forward to building on the opportunity which gives him autonomy to build relationships and shape the role as needed to benefit our ever-growing business.

Day-to-day he will manage orders, transport and drivers, and will also be looking to further formalise processes.

“After a week in a job, I’ve never felt so welcome! I already feel incredibly valued and that bond with the team is already there,” James continued.

“It’s time to knuckle down and show what I can do. There are fantastic opportunities to push on at GTS UK, which I am desperate to make the most of to help the team progress and push myself to my limit.”

James previously worked as a delivery support advisor at a national kitchen manufacturer, where logistics played a significant part in his job. He was promoted to senior advisor and then team leader within his first year at the company before being headhunted to join an oil and fuel chandler, where he stayed until joining our team in October.
