Why 2023 is shaping up to be our best year yet

It’s hard to believe that we are now halfway through 2023 – but what a year it has been so far.

Our industry continues to face challenges caused by the war in Ukraine, Brexit and the ever-growing focus on the strive for sustainability, and every logistics provider has felt the effects. But, we have faced them head-on and have had a six months to remember as GTS UK goes from strength-to-strength.

Despite the tough market conditions, we continue to grow. Our revenue is significantly up compared to last year as more customers turn to us to import their goods into the UK market, process their customs clearances and coordinate supply chains.

One of our largest clients, Aldi, has continued to place its trust in us and our partnership continues to thrive, with significant growth in the account since the turn of the year.

The last six months has also seen the GTS Group establish GTS Iberia – our first physical presence in Spain and Portugal. Based in Tarragona, the Iberian division further strengthens our network across Europe. It is ideally located being just 60 miles from Barcelona, on the edge of one of the continent’s largest ports, close to Reus Airport and on a pre-existing, dedicated freight line.

The new company allows UK traders to import world-famous products from Spain including olive oil and Priorat wine.

Internally, it has also been a highly exciting period of development for our team. At the start of the year, we hired Sam - our first-ever apprentice. He came to us knowing that we could give him hands-on experience learning the operations of the business and all about our commitment to training and development.

He has been working alongside each of our teams over the last six months and has already become a valued part of the GTS family.

And finally, 2023 has also seen us pass a number of ISO criteria with a number of external audits having recently taken place: ISO 14001 – Environment Standard, 9001 – Quality Management Systems and 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety. These ISO certifications mean our business conforms to the latest quality process standards set by the International Organization for Standardization.

We can’t wait to see what the next six months will bring!
