From record success to new horizons: GTS UK reflects on continued progress in 2023 and sets ambitious goals for the new year

2023 was our most successful year ever with record revenues – but that will all change by the end of 2024!

The individual services we provide – intermodal transport, supply chain management, customs agency, container haulage and overseas logistics all form part of an overall new focus that aims to provide value to companies with their obligations to reduce scope 3 emissions and meet ESG and sustainability goals.

The last 12 months has seen us launch a new Overseas division, expand our team, set out on our greenest logistics journey, and even secure a huge industry award, plus a lot more.

Global challenges have meant significant challenges for the industry. But it hasn’t held us back. We recorded our highest revenue to date in 2023 as global and domestic clients continued to trust GTS UK and our top-of-class service to fulfil their logistics needs. We have remained true to our core values – we care, we deliver, we delight and our aim to recognise our clients’ changing needs and ensure we are providing value has strengthened our development.

With demand for our services increasing, our MD Tony looked to bring in new faces to drive us forward. We hired James in October into a new role as supply chain specialist, which came a month after the appointment of Shaila into our customs team. Earlier in the year, we took on our first apprentice, Sam. His role has been wide-ranging in his first 12 months, as he learnt his way around the whole business.

Our final new addition in 2023 was Matthew. In his position as Overseas division manager, he brings vital experience but also a whole new division to the GTS UK family. The team he will head up will allow clients to seamlessly transition freight through the world’s largest ports.

And the year ended with special recognition for our MD. Internally, we have known about Tony’s passion and enthusiasm since the day GTS UK was founded but December saw the rest of the world find out what we already knew.

Tony and Rosie, our business development manager, have been driving our sustainability goals and we will announce our significant plans for this key area of GTS UK soon. We led a discussion at a special Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) event, hosted at the University of Salford, in November around how the industry needs to act now to cut CO2.

Even before this event, we had been working tirelessly behind the scenes to produce our Green Roadmap – to place us as industry leaders at the forefront of CO2 reduction.

The Salford event also provided a launchpad to begin working with a leading university – supporting them with research into CO2 emissions in logistics and, in turn, allowing a student to join GTS UK on a placement.

We will share further details of all these exciting projects as soon as we can!

If 2024 is as positive as 2023, we will have had another great year, but we always strive for more. Keep checking back here throughout 2024 or find us on social media for updates.
